Day 9 - Where to Attack
“In combat the purpose of your attack is to lead to an advantageous position. In yoga you can look at our attack as an entrance to a position or pose.”
- Andy Hrovat
What You Can Control
Over the next 21 days the focus of this class will cover the 5 areas you can control in combat, yoga and life.
Yourself - Day 1-4
Your Environment - Day 5-8
Your Attack - Day 9-12
Your Situation Day 13-16
Your Finish Day 17-21
Our Focus Today Is Where To Attack
All attacks lead to five positions - upper body, left leg, right leg, failed attacks and top/bottom.
Combat
In combat all attacks lead to a positions, if not it was just an attempt. Committing to the attack helps ensure we not only reach a position but that it is also advantageous.
By acquiring proper skill and understanding in each position no matter where the attack ends up we can feel comfortable.
Today’s challenge is to attack a project you have been putting off, but before you start plan where the attack will lead you and what that looks likes.
Yoga
Being an individual practice what you can attack in yoga are the different parts of the body - arms, legs and core to position you in an endless variety of poses.
In today’s practice we started experimenting with arm balances. Write down what you are most excited about in doing arm balances? What are you most apprehensive about?
Life
In life our attacks are what we spend our time doing. This time leads us to our current position.
The challenge today is to take an audit of your time. How much time did you spend on your phone, on the computer, learning a new skill or doing physical activity. Make sure what you are attacking in life is leading you to the position you want to be in.
