Day 5 - Direct Your Thinking: Let Go of Expectations
"We often find ourselves comparing the moment we're in, vs. what we would have preferred. So couldn't it be said that if we find a way to change our mind about what's showing up that we could potentially open ourselves up to have more enjoyment with life as it's unfolding? How we think about something determines our experience with it. If we look at something as not good enough, its going to be not good enough. Notice your expectations and become aware of how they are directing your experience with ease and contentment." - Em Hrovat
Journal Thoughts
Physical expectations
Taking on a 21 day yoga challenge is a tough physical feat. Think of some of the expectations you had prior to starting. How did these expectations make you feel.
How are these expectations fueling your journey. Are you letting your expectations defeat you or support you?
How are your expectations framing your interpretation of what is happening?
Mental Expectations
It is said to be in our own heads is to be behind enemy lines. As hard as this challenge is physically it is equally if not harder mentally. We have a story and narrative we tell ourselves about who we are and this sets the expectations for what and who we can become.
Write down in your own words who you want to become throughout the 21 days. How will it make you feel completing the 21st class?
"One way we can direct our thinking, is by letting go of expectations. Expectations have this tendency to place a barrier between ourselves and our ability to experience joy."
