Day 8 - Creating Adaptability

“Just as the mind and body influence the environment of each other, the variety of situations we practice staying present with influences the variety of situations we can stay focused in. This looks like being with things as they are rather than comparing each moment against your preferences. ”

- Em Hrovat

Focus: Creating Adaptability

Daily Mindfulness Practice: Set a timer for 12 minutes and do box breathing. Follow prompts below.

Inhale for a count of 4

Hold your breath for 4

Exhale for 4

Hold your breath for 4

Repeat for 12 minutes.

The buddha said, “You should meditate for 30 minutes everyday. And if you don’t have time for that, make it double.”

The purpose of today’s class was introducing new movement patterns to learn to breath through. We are cultivating adaptability by adding variety to the types of situations we are able to find presence in. New movements mean moments of confusion and uncertainty, sometimes causing us to lose concentration or stability. To practice fluid movement and breath in uncertain movement patterns, strengthens the adaptability of your mind.

Challenge yourself to try something new or go somewhere unfamiliar today.
