Day 15 - Stability

“Today’s class we are going to focus on our stability physically so we can follow this line of energy and build stability within our mind so when we fall off kilter we can easily come back to center and move forward.”

Journal Thoughts

A lot of things can happen that throw us off balance. Unplanned traffic and becoming late to something, unexpected news, things going differently than we planned in our mind. If we are unable to control our response in these scenarios, these unexpected happenings can lead us to feelings of frustration, anger and disappointment.

When we are balanced in our life, we are calm and in control of our reactions. We are level headed and at ease in our own mind. When we are off balance, we can experiences dis-ease, irritability and anxiousness.

The good news is, there is preparation we can do for ourselves to set ourselves up each day to stay centered.

Pay attention today. Notice when you feel most centered. What things throw you off balance.

The list below are tools to prevent falling off balance, or to decrease the time it takes for us to bounce back to center after getting thrown off. Consider these things your armour for the unexpected.

  1. Start your day with 15-45 minutes of meditation/mindful breathing. Do this before looking at your phone for the day and before giving anything or anyone your energy. Do yourself a favor and do this midday and at night as well. If you have time to scroll on your phone, you have time to sit and breathe.

  2. Give yourself 25 minutes of extra time to arrive everywhere you go. This creates a buffer for unexpected traffic or happenings that can make us late for things.

  3. Make a list of habits you have or have had in the past, that make you feel centered and in balance. Can you make these things a priority more often?

  4. Do a digital detox for 7 days. No news, no social media. The purpose of this is to give more of your energy to what is actually happening in front of you in real time. This detox can have dramatic impact on your psychological well being. You won’t miss anything by taking a week away from the internet, I promise.
