Day 16 - Mindfulness

“Allow this practice to be a full engagement with mindfulness. Let it be the tone that you set for your next 24 hours. So that you are putting purpose behind every action, choice and movement.”

Journal Thoughts

We can’t change or work on anything that we don’t first understand. Mindfulness is the ability to practice noticing how you are contributing to the circumstances of your life.

Imagine if every day, your intention was to find a way to make 3 people have a better day today because of your efforts. You buy a starbucks or grocery store gift card for the person in line behind you. You put away a stranger’s cart for them. If this was your intention every day for a year, imagine the impact and people whose lives you could touch.

The same is true for any compounded efforts for any one intention. If done consistently, the intention strengthens and multiplies its fruit.

So, what is something you find yourself wanting in your life that you don’t currently have, or would like to see improved?

Do you want more meaningful relationships?

Do you want more financial independence?

Do you want to buy a new car?

Do you want to take a trip somewhere?

Identify one thing, personal to your life right now.

Notice the things you do that support your desire for the thing. Notice the choices that do not.

Remember, just by bringing attention to something, it begins to change. By noticing what choices elevate and which ones inhibit, our best choices become more obvious and easier to take.

Return to this practice often. If you happen to find yourself frustrated because you just want to have X in your life, rather than curse the world for not meeting your needs, take personal responsibility to create the choices that make that thing a reality for yourself.
