Day 20 - How To Be Well Rounded But Hyper Focused
“Today we talked about being the best version of you. What this looks like is being well rounded but also having a hyper-focus. The hyper-focus attention is on you - what are you needing to defend the most, what are you most successful with and what are you going to add that will surprise your opponents the next time.”
- Andy Hrovat
What You Can Control
Over the next 21 days the focus of this class will cover the 5 areas you can control in combat, yoga and life.
Yourself - Day 1-4
Your Environment - Day 5-8
Your Attack - Day 9-12
Your Situation Day 13-16
Your Finish Day 17-21
Our Focus Today Is How To Be Well Rounded But Hyper Focused
"In our yoga practice, our hyper focus is on defending the quality of our mind, noticing where we are strong and building upon it and choosing one thing we want to improve on by the end of class."
-Em Hrovat
Combat
A well rounded training program is one that trains all directions of finish a little each week, but also plans for individual growth of the athlete. This individual attention is a hyper focus on improving where you are getting beat at, where you are most successful and what you want to add. Since each athlete is an individual what this looks like from athlete to athlete will differ based on physical characteristics, technical preference and mindset.
Yoga
The practice of yoga is never perfected, it is constantly evolving. We evolve by having a strong mind, a strong body and a growth focused mindset.
What is a pose or part of practice that is difficult for you currently, and how can you improve it?
Which pose or type of pose makes you feel strong?
What is something you’d like to improve or add in to your practice?
Life
We have many different areas within in our life - family, work, health, wealth and spirituality, just to name a few. In each of these areas, we have a story we tell ourselves about who we are within each realm. To become the best person we can be, it takes an honest assessment to see what is working and what is not working in each area of our life.
We need to get rid of our self defeating habits, replicate what we enjoy and are successful at, and deliberately choose how we add value to our experience.
Write down one defeating habit you noticed during this challenge and how can you eliminate it?
Write down your successes during this challenge and how can you replicate them in other areas of your life?
Using this challenge as a springboard, how can you continue to add value to your life the remainder of the year?
“We have these stories we tell ourselves in our life that are defeating, that create success and that form the person we want to become.”
— Andy Hrovat
