Day 5 - Movement Within Boundaries

COMBAT THUMB FINAL.jpg

"We're looking for adaptability in our movement so that we can be open to taking new directions. Notice the pathways you're taking. How do you get to work and your friends' house? Can you maybe reroute or go to different places that are more supportive for what you are trying to accomplish in your life?” - Em Hrovat

"What yoga and combat teaches, is to not be so rigid in your movements, be open to new patterns and new ways of doing things and getting to places. That's opened up a lot of new direction in my life, and I'm grateful for that." - Andy hrovat

What You Can Control

Over the next 21 days the focus of this class will cover the 5 areas you can control in combat, yoga and life.

  1. Yourself - Day 1-4

  2. Your Environment - Day 5-8

Our focus today is movement within boundaries

Combat

How you move around in combat is simple - forward, back, side to side, diagonals and circles. Where you can move is determined by the boundaries of the playing field and the opponent’s position.

What environment in our daily lives could improve or become more efficient if we examined our movement through it?

Yoga

Our movement on the yoga mat is determined by our orientation of where we are set up on the mat and the instructions of the teacher. If we are set up wrong or facing in the wrong direction we can hear the instructions correctly but will fail at getting to where we need to be.

We belong to many environments, our challenge is to become aware of where we fit in within the environment and where we are being directed.

Life

We are not stuck where we currently are, our life is a constant flow from one place to the next. Once we start taking notice of where we are we could then self directing to where we want to be.

What are some areas in your life where you are not satisfied with where you currently are? How will you orient yourself to get back in the right direction?
