Day 13 - Technique In Relation to Situations

"To really understand how you can control your situation, we need to better know, what technique means in combat. Technique is direction and control. Directions are automated movements. We're going to focus on control today. Which is the fine motor skills of your head, your hands, your hips, your feet, and how they can adjust and move through an ever changing situation."

Our Focus Today Is Technique In Relation To Situations

Combat   

Technique in all combat sports can be broken down to what you can control and what direction can you move. Situations are something you control, they are not a direction. Control comes from our fine motor skills. These fine motor skills are a series of bodily adjustments to help us find balance, leverage and strength.  

What poses in today’s practice did you find balance, leverage and strength? Which area can you improve on?  


Yoga 

In yoga situations are the poses. This means the technique of yoga is the direction in and out of the pose combined with the fine motor skills required to hold and adjust within the poses. 

Only when we are present in the moment can we feel what adjustments need to be made. Today we used our breath, attention and fine motor skills to reshape our situation. 

What is one pose from today’s practice where you felt most in control? 


Life

In order to control our situation in life we must first become present with our situation. This means minimizing distractions that pull us away from what is right in front of us. 

The challenge for today is to spend 30 minutes in a conversational situation without any distraction, especially devices. Notice what you can learn about someone when you give them your full attention.
